Insurance Disputes:
The Firm represents individuals in litigation with disability carriers who have refused to pay professional disability insurance. Mr. Roos obtained a $1 million total disability lump sum settlement, Ms. Block obtained a partial disability settlement of $400,000, and both lawyers succeeded in compelling a carrier to reinstate benefits worth multiple millions over the benefit period. The Firm also has prosecuted commercial premium disputes and defended claims handling litigation.
Law Firm and Other Collections:
The Firm has a high success rate in representing several major law firms in collection matters, often recovering as much as one hundred percent of the amount outstanding and averting malpractice counterclaims. The Firm also has acted for individual professionals and corporations in collecting on promissory notes, convertible debentures and other commercial paper.
Professional Liability:
The Firm counsels and defends lawyers on malpractice claims and has prosecuted successfully several claims on behalf of clients who have claims against their former counsel.
Professional Responsibility:
The Firm’s attorneys have represented a number of professionals, including nurses, physicians, and attorneys before their respective licensing boards and, in cases of research faculty, before the academic offices of research integrity.
Alternative Dispute Resolution:
The Firm offers clients other avenues of dispute resolution including pre-suit negotiation, mediation, collaborative law, and arbitration. Ms. Block has served as a mediator in employment disputes and is an approved neutral on the panel of the American Arbitration Association. Mr. Roos has served as an American Arbitration Association party-appointed arbitrator.
